Meeting survivors and hearing their stories changed my life. It showed me how fragile democracy and human rights can be when division and extremism go unchecked.<\/p>\n That\u2019s why I joined the Liberal Democrats \u2014 because I believe we must always stand up for fairness, dignity, and freedom, whether here or around the world.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Why is social care such a big priority for you?” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” open=”off”]<\/p>\n Because for me, it\u2019s personal. I grew up supporting my parents with their health problems. I know what it\u2019s like to sit in Sheffield\u2019s hospitals, waiting for news that could change everything.<\/p>\n Later, I chose to build my career in social care \u2014 first with charities like Hft and now at Sheffield Mencap & Gateway, where I work with families every day.<\/p>\n As the Lib Dem Spokesperson for Adult Health & Social Care and an NHS Governor, I\u2019ve seen how the system can succeed and how it can fail. When social care works, it\u2019s fairness and dignity in action. That\u2019s why I\u2019ve fought on the issues residents tell me matter most:<\/span><\/p>\n Exposing ADHD waiting lists and NHS delays.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Campaigning for pensioners after Labour\u2019s winter fuel cuts.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Standing up for WASPI women denied justice.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Securing housing repairs for tenants left waiting too long.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n These campaigns gained media coverage and, more importantly, delivered real results for local people.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Where do you stand on Labour and Reform?” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” open=”off”]<\/p>\n Labour promised change, but their first acts were to cut winter fuel support and plan the biggest ever cut to disability benefits \u2014 and their silence on social care speaks volumes.<\/p>\n Reform, meanwhile, thrives on division and fear, just like extremists I saw abroad. But I\u2019ve also seen the best in people \u2014 courage, compassion, and resilience in the face of injustice. It doesn’t matter if someone donates \u00a35 or \u00a35,000.
